Counsellor

Stephen (he/him) is an integrative therapist who works with adult men, queer-identified men, and others from the queer community. Stephen also works with professionals on their work issues and career goals.

Stephen has a Bachelor in counselling from Jansen Newman Institute (part of Torrens University Australia) a Sydney-based college that specialises in providing training and education for counsellors.

Stephen’s approach to counselling is to build a strong, caring and collaborative client relationship to help clients move into greater awareness about themselves, their thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and to help them find the opportunity to respond, feel, think or behave differently.

Stephen’s approach is based on hope and confidence that change is always possible.

What Stephen’s About

Stephen is the primary provider of Stephen Blood Counselling. He believes in the power of the therapeutic process as an agent for change in our lives.

Stephen identifies as gay and is a proud member of the queer community.

Stephen was born and raised in Melbourne before moving to Sydney. Prior to training as a counsellor he spent many (many) years working in the wealth management industry, including roles at Macquarie, Mercer, Westpac, AMP and CBA. He is familiar with the many work stresses and issues that can stem from our work life and the support that we sometimes need. He continues to provide contracting and consulting services to the wealth management industry.

Stephen is an avid reader, and whilst he reads across all genres he has a particular fondness for fantasy and science fiction. Stephen also loves music, especially the 1980s and his favourite bands are Eurythmics and Depeche Mode. Stephen is an avid traveller and loves exploring new places (especially the local food) with friends and loved ones.
