Counsellor
Antigone is a person-centred, trauma-informed counsellor who holds space for you with non-judgemental and non-pathologising warmth and safety. She is an integrative counsellor, applying a range of modalities and approaches, including trauma-focused, somatic, family systems, ACT, narrative, and feminist, openly and collaboratively.
Antigone’s creative skills acquired within the context of music foster spontaneous and imaginative sessions, encouraging you to participate actively on your path to positive change. Antigone is passionate about sharing resources so you can contemplate other ways of thinking about your challenges. She believes advocacy is essential to being a therapist, but empowering you to self-advocate is even more critical.
What Antigone’s About
Antigone is the primary provider at Antigone Foster Counselling. She collaborates with fellow Here Completely therapist Samantha Forbes in group work for Women Identified Survivors of CSA and will run further groups in 2024
Antigone, or Tiggy for short, comes to the therapeutic relationship after a successful career in the music industry as a singer/songwriter, years in the corporate world, and mother of two children. She still performs in fabulous outfits, records the occasional session, and dreams of leading a client choir.
Tiggy grew up in a blended hippy family in the country with parents who took the less travelled path and grew (almost all) their food. Her mother inspired her to enter the mental health field through 39-year career working with offenders in the justice system.
