Counsellor, Inclusive Educator, Parenting Neurodivergent Children
Inclusion is at the heart of everything Ange does. To her it’s not just a concept, it’s a commitment. She believes everyone deserves to feel seen, valued and understood for who they truly are. She knows people thrive when their true selves are in sync with how they show up in the world.
In her little corner of the world, she’s passionate about creating a positive impact. One of the most important to her is within the neurodiversity-affirming paradigm, in particular, supporting Autistic individuals.
Ange loves guiding people to find their sweet spot, where everything just clicks! While finding that sweet spot can be a journey that takes time and may come with some discomfort, it’s all part of the process of self-discovery that Ange can support you through.
What Andrea (Ange)’s About
Ange is the primary provider at Sydney Counselling Space and her approach to counselling is influenced by her lived experiences of inclusion. Having worked for years in the jungles of Papua, Ange lived as an ‘outsider’ who learned to connect with people from wonderful walks of life so different to her own.
Years of experience as an inclusive educator, supporting neurodiverse families (along with her own rollercoaster experience of parenting an awesome, autistic son) highlighted the difficulties of navigating a world not built for ‘difference’. Ange knows that empowered parents and secure families are key to raising confident young people. She has also seen how tough it can be for individuals to thrive when their family or society doesn’t quite ‘get’ them.
On a more personal note, Ange seems perpetually torn between waking up early to train for a marathon (which would be an impressive milestone!) and hitting the snooze button for a little extra sleep. It’s a tough choice, but either way she’s always aiming to find balance!
